Angkor Thom was a large city close to Angkor Wat, there are key sites remaining to visit including Baphoun Temple (featuring the large brick reclining Buddha), Phimeanakas pyramid, Royal Palace walls and gardens and the Elephant Terrace. Angkor Thom was the capital of Khmer King Jayavarman VII's empire before being abandoned in 1609.
